What Makes A Great Project Manager

In looking for a video for my PLN, I have found a content creator who specifically focuses on great project manager YouTube content. Along with adding him to my PLN, I have found a video he created with some strategies of a successful construction project manager. In Jason Schroeder's videos he talks a lot about creating a good team, which I also have found to be an important step in managing projects. This is great video to go along with that theory.

Another benefit of finding videos is that it allows project managers to keep learning and improving their skills. The construction industry is always changing with new technology, tools, and building methods. Watching videos can help project managers stay up to date without needing to attend expensive trainings or seminars. There are videos that explain project management software, scheduling techniques, budgeting strategies, and leadership skills. Being able to pause, rewind, and rewatch videos also makes it easier to fully understand complicated topics. Overall, videos can be a simple but powerful learning tool that helps construction project managers.

  1. What did people do before YouTube?! I love how many different uses you found for these videos as they relate to the construction industry. Sometimes WATCHING someone complete a task makes so much more sense than just reading about how to do it. Would you ever consider making your own instructional videos?

From this week's video, I find PLNs a little overwhelming. I do not know if it is because of my age, but thinking about how individual PLNs are formed feels like a lot. After a lot of thinking, I realize I am constantly building an individual PLN. I do feel my "accidental" PLN is already in place. I have worked in the field of project management for over 15 years, with experience in construction for nearly 30 years. I have many colleagues, social bookmarks, content development already under my belt. I realize I video conference nearly daily in regards to my professional career. What might seem a daily tasks, are just notches in my PLN development.
Welcome to my first blog post! I am very new to this process, and I feel like I am going to learn a lot using a new technology. I feel like blog posts are old for some people, but I have never used one. I am hoping to use this technology to introduce other students to new types of technology, especially in the field of project management. Best of luck to everyone this semester.
First off the bat, I noticed the best blogs are easier to read. I already applied a new template to my blog to make it easier on the eyes. The next thing I noticed, is short stories or paragraphs help organize information. For example, the EdTech Blog is organized so someone could pick a topic and see the according information easily. I would also include providing value would be an important part of a blog post. Hopefully I can use some of these as examples of how to incorporate a good blog post.
