From this week's video, I find PLNs a little overwhelming. I do not know if it is because of my age, but thinking about how individual PLNs are formed feels like a lot. After a lot of thinking, I realize I am constantly building an individual PLN. I do feel my "accidental" PLN is already in place. I have worked in the field of project management for over 15 years, with experience in construction for nearly 30 years. I have many colleagues, social bookmarks, content development already under my belt. I realize I video conference nearly daily in regards to my professional career. What might seem a daily tasks, are just notches in my PLN development.
Welcome to my first blog post! I am very new to this process, and I feel like I am going to learn a lot using a new technology. I feel like blog posts are old for some people, but I have never used one. I am hoping to use this technology to introduce other students to new types of technology, especially in the field of project management. Best of luck to everyone this semester.
I very much agree with you. While reading and watching the videos on PLNs (which was a completely new term for me) I was becoming overwhelmed thinking about having to sign up for this platform or that platform. I believe the PLN has been in place for many decades, it is really just getting a “label” and platforms are being designed specifically for the further advancement and technology version of the “old school” PLN. I do like how you took a minute to review what you read/watched and realized you already have a PLN in place and you use your network on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with the Idea of an "Accidental PLN". This is exactly what I have created on my LinkedIn without even realizing it. I am also buying my first home and now have an entire network on Facebook of DIY pages. It's kind of crazy how easy it is to do with personal interests, but when tasked with it in a professional way, it can feel overwhelming.
